چکیده

The hemodynamic function of the thin-wall, glutaraldehyde-treated porcine xenograft was evaluated in 37 asymptomatic patients an average of 8 months (range 6-15 months) after operation. Three patients had a double-valve replacement. Cardiac output and simultaneous transvalvular gradients were recorded at rest and during moderate supine exercise. In 25 patients with an aortic bioprosthesis, the average

Severe late failure of a porcine xenograft mitral valve: clinical, echocardiographic, and pathological findings.

A case of dysfunction of a Carpentier-Edwards porcine xenograft mitral prosthesis is presented. Valve failure was diagnosed by echocardiography and confirmed at operation. Histology showed valve tissue degeneration without evidence of prosthetic endocarditis.

Valve-in-a-valve concept for transcatheter minimally invasive repeat xenograft implantation.

OBJECTIVES This study sought to evaluate the feasibility of minimally invasive transapical repeat valve-in-a-valve (VinV) implantation. BACKGROUND Reoperative heart valve replacement for degenerated xenografts is associated with an increased surgical risk. METHODS Conventional Carpentier Edwards porcine aortic (n = 5) and mitral (n = 2) valve prostheses were implanted in 7 pigs. Transapical...

Early Doppler-echocardiography evaluation of Carpentier-Edwards Standard and Carpentier-Edwards Magna aortic prosthetic valve: comparison of hemodynamic performance

OBJECTIVES This study was designed to describe Doppler-echocardiography values of Carpentier-Edwards Perimount Standard (CEPS) and Carpentier-Edwards Perimount Magna (CEPM) aortic prosthetic valves, evaluated by a single, experienced echo-laboratory, early in the postoperative phase. METHODS Three-hundred-seventy-seven consecutive patients, who had had a CEPS or a CEPM implanted in our Hospit...

Thirteen year-experience with mitral valve replacement.

At the Niigata University Hospital, various kinds of prosthetic valves such as the Starr-Edwards nonclothand cloth-covered, Bjork-Shiley tilting disc, and Carpentier-Edwards porcine valves, have been used from September, 1965 to March, 1979 for replacement of diseased valves on 176 patients. The patients with Starr-Edwards nonclothand cloth-covered ball valves showed survival rates of 90 and 84...

Stentless aortic valve replacement: an update

Although porcine aortic valves or pericardial tissue mounted on a stent have made implantation techniques easier, these valves sacrifice orifice area and increase stress at the attachment of the stent, which causes primary tissue failure. Optimizing hemodynamics to prevent patient-prosthetic mismatch and improve durability, stentless bioprostheses use was revived in the early 1990s. The purpose...
